No organized fishing tournaments will be allowed at Chester Frost Park until further notice. The boat launch will remain open for public recreational use.

Is it true?

Im gonna thank channel for the reporting that led to this decision.
The news and the fact they thought it was a good idea to still have that tourney with that big of a crowd

There is nothing on the Chester Frost website about this and the park calendar still lists upcoming tournaments...

It is true. Director called me and said as of now, all tournaments are cancelled.

perhaps we should: remind hamilton county govt who they serve? request their data to support their social distancing requirements? request refund of the tax dollars used to support the park paid by tournament fishermen? remind hamilton county how much money rhea county gets from bass tournaments?

called the hamilton county mayors office, ended up leaving msg. got a return call from the person in charge of the parks, he stated his name but it was muffled and i couldnt understand it. i asked for the science/evidence to support the decisions being made to violate the rights of the people, he stated they didnt have it and were just following the directions of the governor without scientific evidence or data to support the actions. he refused to identify himself and ended up hanging up on me.

That's completely opposite of the point while turkey we are the taxpayers we have a right to use that land and they have no good science to support their decision to restrict our use of it

The CBA built the weigh-in building at Chester Frost so now they cannot use it ! Send Coppinger the bill! He lives in Valleybrook!

How about telling GA tournaments to have their tournaments on GA lakes. They came up here and didn't follow guide lines and now Tennessee people pay price.

so the CBA met with the director of parks and rec for Hamilton Co. last night. The guy was super nice, unlike Rusty described. He is just doing his job and the decision was made over his head, in the Mayor's office based on the direction of the health department who was alerted to the situation by the Channel 9 news story. Here's the facts I know;

There were not 400 people in the tournament
There was about 75 boats
There was a ton of other spectators and other boaters out doing what they do on Saturday's around here
A local fisherman who doesnt like out of state tournaments blew the whistle
The local news media (CH. 9) blew this out of proportion to get a "Gotcha" on Hamilton Co. and the tournament fishermen
calling the Mayor's office or the director of parks and rec will only make things worse at this point

CBA will go on as scheduled out of Grasshopper, and we will be doing our "corona" protocols. Be looking for announcements from the officers real soon about details.
