Thought I would share a good one that happened yesterday. One of my good friends here has a couple sons who come down each bow deer season and hunt the first week at their deer camp. It has been in the 90s here in the afternoon and most have not been hunting, myself included. Since they plan this every year they were a couple exceptions. They had been seeing some small bucks but nothing they wanted to shoot. They have a wall hanger 10 pt on one of the cameras they have out and both of them were trying for that one. All the pictures of big bucks were at night but you just never know. Yesterday a 10 pt came within range of one of his sons. Let an arrow fly and hit it a little high and a little back. He thought it would cut lung so he was hopeful. Had a decent blood trail however it petered out after a couple hundred yards. The two of them had no choice but to fan out from the last blood and try to get lucky. About five hours after starting their tracking they were just about to give up. One of them decided to walk the edge of the Saline Creek which bordered their property. Some of you hunters probably have heard that a wounded deer will head for water. Sure enough, after a couple hundred yards he spotted a deer's rear sticking up out of the water in the river on a sand bar. They had a small paddle boat down there but had no paddle. A broom in one of the stands had to be used. They got out to it, tied it to the side of the boat and floated it down the creek where they were able to reach the creek with a truck. That will be a memorable hunt and a story to tell in years to come. Another thing that probably helped a ton was the creek is cold water, when the deer died in the water the meat was kept in good shape in the cold water.

On a side note, this was a very nice 10 pt but it is not the one they have on their cameras. The one on the camera is bigger and still out there. The other thing was no one had even seen this 10 pt. in person or on camera. Here are a couple pictures they sent me, they need to work on their picture taking. Jmax
