Lots of water above us and the flood gates opening now. Probably not more than a foot, 2 at the most, but TVA never ceases to amaze me.

As a rule of thumb, fish go shallow during flood conditions. They actually go up into the woods, regardless of the season. But, let the water level drop just one inch and they high tail it for the deep. Somehow, they know the water level is dropping before humans do.

ive fished from the bank below the dam with gates open and water waay up and actually on several occasions have had better success than when water was a regular generation and even when the water was chocolate!
Tho recently about a week ago i was fishing on the banks below dam before they opened gates and had a pretty good day. caught largemouth and a smallie all on different baits. one on a 3.4 ounce hair jig. 2lb. largemouth on small crappie jig. and another LM bass on a spoon. also had another REALLY nice LM on the folley spoon untill he got off!

Bass wont go shooting for the ledges. They will suspend and are way tougher to catch
