T rig bullet weights - new question - pegs

Enjoyed the colored weights conversation so here's another question. Do you peg your weights and if so, any particular reason or circumstances? I used to use toothpicks to peg weights 12" - 18" above my hook but haven't tried that technique in years.

Thanks,

I peg in heavy cover only but I use rubber stops. It seems I broke off more often when I used toothpicks.

I agree with Pointer on this one. Pegging the weight in heavy cover helps get you bait thru the cover efficiently, but no other time
do I peg it.

Something else I discovered . . . I used to fish a 12" worm deep in the summer on a 5/0 - 3/4 oz. football head hook. When the fish
came to the top, they used the weighted hook as leverage to throw it. (They will do the same thing with a big crankbait). Switched to a
traditional T-rig setup, 5/0 hook with a 3/4 oz. bullet sinker (not pegged). Problem solved. The weight slides away from the fish when
they come to the top and that leverage is taken away from them.

Pointer knows pegging the sinker in grass. He is the one who taught me to fish it that way.
