Mega imaging

Hey guys, I am looking at purchasing a new to me boat, a 2004 Triton tr186 with a 150 mercury that has a new powerhead. My question is Electronics. Is the helix 12 worth the price difference between it and the 10. I know they also have the 15. I am planning on selling my older boat to purchase new Electronics for the new boat. Just wondering if the 700.00 difference is worth it. Helix 10 around 1700.00, helix 12 around 2400.00 and the 15 I think is around 3200.00

If you move up to the 15" Solix you are going to need to consider battery life. That giant screen pulls a ton of power.

I have a 10 and a 9, and I'm very pleased with the size of them. But it's kinda like boat lengths, once you have a 21 footer you want go back. If you've had a 12 inch unit then you'll probably want to go back with the 12, or be like me and take baby steps. One foot at a time on boat length and 1 inch at a time on electronics!

I currently have an 899. So I was thinking the 10 mega imagingwould blow my mind....

I have the 10 and I've been nothing but pleased with it. To me, the screen is plenty big/clear enough to see any school of fish or piece of cover that you would ever want to fish.

as long as they are the gen2 with the mega imaging i dont think you can go wrong. 10 vs 12.......if you got the $, go big :) but the 10 will certainly get the job done.

Depends on your eyes and your wallet. Honestly, it all looks the same to me if its on a 5in, 10in or, 15in. But, I'm the guy that still uses a rugby flip phone and has a 24in box TV! My motto: Fish more work less!

The only difference in the units is the size of the screen. a 10" screen is big to me. a 15" is big enough to watch a ball game

Be an expensive anchor...I read that when split into 4 screens, it's equivalent to 4, 7 inch screens. Run two of those at the console a man would have to have a booster seat to see over them.

I am a hummingbird man, the boat I am looking at has 2 hds7's. I was thinking a mega imaging unit at console as an addition to them.

The only reason I can see to go max big is if you can't see the screen. But it is your money, performance doesn't change by screen size. I would be more concerned about a 13 year old motor than how big my screen was. But that's just me

To me,that 700 could go toward alot of gas or rods and reels rather than an extra 2 inches. To each his own. Just my 2 cents.

The motor was just rebuilt with a factory powerless. Just has 75 hours on it. I am leaning more towards the 9" and a new trolling motor or 2 powerlines and my 899 . Don't know yet

there is a difference in the number of pixels between the 10 and 12, more pixels does equal more detail and clarity. i was comparing the 1199 vs helix 9 and the 9 has WAY more pixels in the screen.

from one of the HB gurus, in referrence to the 1199 vs the H9:

"The H9 has about 3,000 more pixels per square inch."

and the 12 is going to have more pixels than the 10, like i said if you have the $......GO BIG!
