Have you tried fishing for Tilapia?

Hello guys my name is Gustavo Woltmann and I am an assistant working in a publishers office for more than 10 years. Just want to know if you guys tried fishing for tilapia? How was it? Can you share some thoughts about it?

No one I know of around here actually targets Tilapia. It is not your normal fish for people in TN to try to catch. All of the Tilapia I have heard of in TN were accidently caught on the TN river while crappie fishing.

Here is one of the ones caught by mistake while crappie fishing in TN, they are there. Stephen Scoggin of Mt. Juliet Tennessee. If you were to look it up they say the Tilapia has been stocked in many ponds and lakes in TN. Then they have made their way into the TN River water ways. Makes you wonder how many may have been caught and folks thought it was some kind of sunfish. If you really want a mess of Tilapia I find it much easier to just go to your local grocery store. emoAngel

That thang is beautiful. I didn't know they are anywhere in Tenn.

Never did it myself, but I've heard that they can be caught with very small red worms and #10 or smaller hooks.

They are in old hickory lake and have been since the flood of 2010. Some stocked ponds up river were flooded out and they have adapted to tn river life. Haven't caught any myself but have a good friend who has video of catching them up around gallatin steam plant.
