motor guide X3

been a while since I've posted anything mostly due to my boat being in the shop and was wondering if anyone else has ever had the same problem with the foot just falling off a motor guide trolling motor, the motor is only 4 months old by the way. Was out with my dad pulled up on a point off shore put the motor down stuck my foot on the paddle and knew something was wrong when the nose on the boat started doing doughnuts. looked over the side and foot was hanging by the wiring. When I pulled it up to see what the hell was wrong I noticed the threads on the shaft were stripped. No reason for it. I hadn't bumped or banged the motor into anything. I've seen shafts bend or break when they have been run up on a stump or something but I have never see the threads strip on a brand new trolling motor before.

Yeah thats nuts man!! Motorguides can definitely be possessed. I've had one thats been worked on 4 or 5 times and the dang thing still just comes on at random and takes off (sometimes on high). But I've never heard of your issue. Maybe yours was stripped at the factory and it finally broke. Thats the only thing I can think of.
