Crowded areas & wake complainers

Let me make a comment about the topic.......Had the privilege to be on Sidney Lanier north of Atlanta yesterday. We were near the Lanier Island area for reference.

Now crowds took on a different meaning as it was necessary to have 3 persons in a vessel, 1 driver & 2 observers emoPlease. There were large, medium, small, emoBadLanguage , water bugs, (jet ski), off shore, cigarette, sails, house boats, paddle boats, kyakers and a few bass boats jumping the swells and being airborne more often than not emoTskTsk .

Now for wakes, there were large, medium, & extra large wakes emoCrazy from any angle you looked. We were in a 21 ft Sea Ray being tossed around like a tumbleweed in a Texas Tornado emoPoke . There were a few guides striper fishing trolling real close to marina edges as close to no wake zones as possible, emoFish were safe I believe.

Moral of story: The Chick may have a occasional super waker, if you really wanna be frustered, then just make the trip, emoPolice patrols were plenty, no flashing lights was observrd while on the water.

Just saying , enjoy the waters you are able to use, be safe & cautious.....show a bit o courtesy occasionally as we have all had that moment. emoGeezer emoUSA

Did you see this boat accident while you were there? http://www.11alive.com/news/local/b...anier-search-underway-for-occupants/274562698

Appears that they were having a charity poker run on Lanier this weekend and the crash was during a preliminary activity. They limited the speeds in all classes to 60 mph after the accident. Many of the boats in the poker run were off shore type boats capable of >100 mph. Four people perished in this crash.

Stated it happened on Friday, I was there yesterday. emoAngel Sad event, it was wild yesterday as I stated, yes lots o Cigs, Tunnel Hull, Hydro Twin with dual outboards, saw 1 cig style with 4-300hp Mercs pushing......We got off water & had lunch @ Pig Tails on the water. Was able to see many come in for Poker Card, turn & run...... emoGeezer emoUSA

I grew up in west tn and used to fish a boat Ky Lake on the weekends. 1hr 15min each way. But on weekends and holidays you have everything within 2-3 hrs in all directions looking to get out and fish, boat, and just play on the water. Plus barges several times daily.

Not sure on statics but it was a dangerous lake even tho its the biggest lake in the system.

Bodies of accident were those of 2 couples from Kentucky, all in their mid 40's. emoAngel Such a tragedy for all. Just a reminder to be watchful & cautious on waters which we all enjoy.......... emoThumbsup emoGeezer emoUSA
