Best Grass

Can someone please tell me where the most/best grass is for frog fishing. Is it above HWY 60 bridge towards Dayton, or below HWY 60 bridge toward HBSP? I not wanting secret locations or anything, just needing to know which ramp would be closest to the best frog bite. Thanks in advance!

tnsportsman86, that's the $64,000,000 question. Not sure which area is better than the other, but selecting grass is just a matter of a little home work or should I say water work. Couple of videos that may help. A definite tell tell sign is hearing a sucking or ticking sound coming from around the mat, that is bait working the mat.

Thanks Mr.S I have fished chick several times but usually in late winter early spring I will be heading down next Saturday to try my hand at frog fishing.

I fish the lower end because I live close to Harrison Bay. As long as you hear the bluegill popping (rice crispies type of crackling sound) in the grass, then its good grass. Doesn't necessarily mean you will catch fish, but it means the bluegill are there which will bring the bass. The grass by the Nuke Plant as well as the grass across the channel out from Chester Frost is usually pretty busy. Another grassy area that usually has boats is the grass across the channel out from Harrison Bay ramp. You could spend all day on 1 or all 3 spots. Hope that helps.

I usually put in at cotton port because it is close to where I stay when I visit. Is there grass near that ramp? Thanks guys for your input so far.

I was wondering what the snap, crackle, and pop sound was a few weeks back when I was up near the nuke plant. Now I know. Really enjoy learning from you guys.
