Me and my wife fished the chic today.
Its very upsetting to see so many boaters that just have no respect for other
we had boats of all kinds just fly past us with in the 100 ft range not only the big ski boats but other bass boats as well

It's not just the Chick, it's mankind it seems and is universal. Not everyone has succumbed to the "BIG ME and little you" mentality yet, but the number grows by the day. This is exactly why I try to fish midweek most of the time. Either that or I go early and leave early. I'm lucky though and retired. I know many can't do that and have to live with it.

It's that proximity law... It says you must pass within 20' of a boat not under power x regardless of how much un utilized water is available for the other vessel to use. It applies to PWC's as well...

emoUpsmile Complete fabrication of course. Just a theory.

Same thing every summer. Hate to sound rude but it will only get worse. Might as well get used to it on the Chick.

classless people out there. I was fishing the other day and some JA in a red boat with phoenix on the side idled in a complete circle around my boat where i was fishing I could have easily put a lure in his boat that is how close he was.

Maybe just maybe we should arm our self's with paintball guns and fire warning shots across there bow. Wake them up so to speak.

It is not just on the Chick, happens almost everywhere we fish. You think Chick is bad, pick any day of the week, and come to Lake Allatoona in Georgia, you can really get to see the wingnuts in action. It is a lack of respect of other people, not just fishermen and sometimes large quantities of beer.
Sorry you had a tough day though.

Happens just about everywhere. Parksville is awful with the pleasure boat crowd. Have had my line under another boat many times up there lol

It is not only the skiers, jet ski riders, pontoons, and the pleasure boats. Fishermen (fisherwomen) can be just as rude. There are several threads on this forum about bass boats showing no respect for other people fishing.

My sister and her husband have been at Island Cove Marina for over ten years, with the new docks being built they pulled senority to move their boat to a new dock on the lakeside so that they could get a better view of the sunsets...Bad Ideal, we are sitting on their dock most every Sunday evening with our family which includes 3 Grandparents over80 years old just to grill burgers/hot dogs and cannot enjoy the scenery due to boats of every size, shape and color running close to the dock at mostly full throttle well within a 100yards of all the [NO WAKE] buoys and signs. One fellow down from us has a mission to slow down the law-breakers with a fog horn..a ringing bell...and a "no wake, please" sign that he waves at them. All to no avail...most of the no wake violators just wave back and smile and keep the hammer down...we have to hold on to our cups of tea so they don't fall off the table. Where-o-where is at least one TWRA officer to slow down the mayhem? Maybe they could simply put up a video camera and mail them a speeding ticket just like they do for vehicles! Not every boat is in violation of the no wake-idle speed only but I would say it is about a 30% ratio of simple arrogant speeding thru a marked zone...we cant enjoy the evening atmosphere for fear of a boat collision with all the small children riding on the bow of the big boats criss-crossing in front of one another trying to go who knows where except to put some wind in their hair. It makes The Maddog a Saddog to see what the lake has turned into on the weekends!

Id like to weigh in on this... There seems to be some confusion as to where the NO WAKE area is there. I have been out with many different fisherman and a majority say the NO WAKE zone applies going towards the marina, not cutting across. I was told as long as you are between the markers and the island, you can run WOT.

I think they are wrong, but maybe someone can clarify. emoScratch emoScratch

From what I've been told as long as you run outside the nowake buoys at Island Cove you are legal. I have went through there a handful of times with a DNR officer sitting in the inside of the no wake area and I went by at speed on the outside and they never blinked an eye.
