I have an H-bird 898si at the console, a 597 on the bow and I (will) have a Minn Kota with iPilot. I am told I should get the Lakemaster card, but others have said to get the Navionics. Opinions, benefits to either? I fish from FT Loudon all the way down the river to Pickwick. Parksville is a regular and I plan on fishing Carters this year. I dont THINK I can get a card to do all those waters right?

http://www.humminbird.com/Products/SOUTHEAST-STATES-MSD/ go to the bottom of the page and click lakelist, it will give you all the lakes covered on the Southeast version and which ones are in HD. ANY HD lake on Lakemaster is unbeatable for detail. If it is not HD then it is still compariable to a Navionics Hotmap. The new Navionics + will have all those lakes on one card but they will be comparable to Navionics Hotmaps charts.

I have been using Lakemaster Charts ever since they came out. When I installed a Lowrance on my boat last year and plugged in a Navionics Hotmap I was very disappointed, thought there was something wrong with the card. Lakemaster also gives you the option to shade a shallow water area and a desired fishing area depth - in color. the Lakemaster also has an offset feature for when the lakes adjust their levels.

I will always have at least on Bird on my boat.......just for the map card.

I do not know about the lake list, but the lakemaster card is waaaay better than the navionics platinum I had previously. The water level adjust is awesome, I'm not sure why lowrance can't make a card that has this feature.

Yep! What they said Spur! If you gat a Bird on the boat you defiantly need the Lakemaster card for it.

Given you run HB and Autopilot and fish along the TN River there's lots of advantages for you to run LM. Additionally, LM has some very nice maps of Chickamauga and other TN River Impoundments.

There are some areas in TN and even the TN River that have been very recently updated by both Navionics Survey Specialists and through SonarChart contributions, even more recently than LM and are available now for Navionics users to download, as well as other features that may get you thinking about running both map options since HB and Navionics work well together as well.

Navionics has over 18000 HD (1 ft contour) mapping and has a card, Navionics + that allows for region less downloading anywhere in the US and Canada. Generally the Navionics + card runs $199, however they also have the Navionics Updates card that is essentially the exact same thing as the Navionics + card except that it requires an older Navionics card or a competitors card to unlock. Best part, it only costs $99.

We don't just use one crank bait to fish a ledge as there are other colors and brands that work well in different situations. I see mapping as the same. Just another option for you to give you more weapons behind the wheel.
