There are 4 of us committed to a 2015 yellowstone backcountry fishing trip. Anyone ever been? I'm interested in any advice including best time of the year, rivers to fish etc. Thanks!

As with most of the Rocky Mtn states, the optimal fishing time depends on the snowmelt. If there's a lot of snow and a late melt-off the fishing will be easier and safer once the water levels in rivers have dropped.
July and August through September are generally the optimal times to fish the rockies.

As far as specifics you need to study maps and plan your trip. You may be best advised to contact a guide service if this is your first trip out there. There are many many reputable guides in West Yellowstone. Plan ahead for a good trip. Don't plan and you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

I would contact one of the many quality fly shops in W. Yellowstone. More quality water than you could fish in a lifetime. I'm lucky to have fished the area several times but never back country camping. The key, as noted above, is to avoid the Spring runoff. Also be prepared for cold weather, even in the summer. I was snowed on in late July one trip.
