I tried something new to me last night and it looked like it works.

One issue I have with these all night CBAs that last for 12 hours are the numbers of dead fish and the stress on the bass. I had seen a discussion on here about using Hydrogen Peroxide in the live well will give the bass an oxygen boost to last a while in a live well. My live well has a divider with a pump on each side. I took out the divider and used it as one. I brought a lot of ice bottles and jugs. Before starting I filled my well, took two ice jugs and put in it to get the water cooled down well to start with. Then I took Release Me and put into the water. At that point I put eight ounces of Hydrogen Peroxide and put it into the well. One ounce for every three gallons of water. My six pounder I caught at around 9:00 p.m., with the new rule of being allowed only one dead bass at the weigh in I was really worried about it dying being in the well for eleven hours.

It is a job doing what I did. You have to keep adding ice bottles to maintain the water cool. I would about every two to three hours add fresh water, then another ounce of hydro, more ice and a touch of release me. After adding the eight pounder, a 4/6, plus the 6/13 I was really watching for any sign of trouble. Two more bass right at 4 each and never saw one issue with water. The only issue I did have was four of my five had to be clipped. Two of them I had to use two clips in order to right them.

I was very pleased with what the end results was. My fish seemed to be extremely lively. They kept jumping out of my weigh bag. The guys at the weigh in had issues getting a hold of them. emoThumbsup I think this will become a normal practice for me. Here is a link to doing what I did. Jmax

here is a video...

That is a great video and looks like we all should keep a bottle in the boat. Congrats on a good bag i always look forward to the reports.

I worry that with all the upside of lakes like chic there will be a down because of so many fish being caught and not taken care of, if we all do take these measures there may not be a down side, a couple years ago nickajack was putting out alot of big bags now this spring was not so good and this could have been caused by too many dead fish.

I too tried using hydrogen peroxide during a tournament this weekend with good results. I got up to head to the tournament and was checking to make sure I had everything when I relized I had no release me so I went to walmart to try to grab some right quick and they did not have any. Then I remembered the post on here about the hydrogen peroxide so I grabbed a bottle. I only have a 16 gallon live well and with some ice and the peroxide all five fish seamed well at weigh in.

So based on this information you need to add the Hydrogen Peroxide about every hour to maintain a higher level of oxygen in your live well for the bass. That is assuming you do not have any kind of oxygen injection system in your boat? I was doing it about every two hours along with running the pumps constantly. This did seem to work well and maintained my bass. Jmax

I am trying to find another article written about it, where it was determined it was not good long term for the fish and was recommended only as an emergency when aerators fail.

If you look at the last slide tho it promotes the oxygen injection system, thus trying to discredit hydrogen peroxide.
I'm sure the oxygen injection system is the greatest thing to add oxygen to the water but i dont want the risk of having it on my boat.
