It was nice on the river at daylight this morning.Quiet and cool with very little water running.I rigged up with my same old chart&white streamer.Caught a stripe on the first cast.I thought about leaving right then because a fish on the first cast usually means trouble for me. But I fished on and after a while a big ole tenn tarpon grabbed my streamer and the war was on! They are fun, running and jumping and shaking their head. After that I noticed some fish chasing minnows so I tied on a popping bug and caught several bass, smallmouth ,largemouth and spots. Lots of action until the sun got on the water
Lots of fun
I dont know why but the pics are way down on the bottom of the page

Location: Hixson, TN | I think I saw you this morning. I was the first one at the dam for a long time. Were you working from the bar just below the bridge.
Nice catch on a flyrod. Those "tarpon" are a lot of fun. I was fishing a popper behind a popping cork last year and they would hit it 6-8 times before getting hooked up.
I was checking for bait a couple days ago and saw those minnows jumping out of the water to escape the bass, right in the area you were fishing.
Thanks for the report.

| That's great that the bass are eating popping bugs. I caught quite a few down there this a.m. but was using spin tackle. Lots of fun, |

| Were you fishing from the sandbar below the dam. With the clouser were you using a sink tip ? I do a lot of fly fishing ,just never have in the river , except for gar.

| Hey gulfbum,
I was using a floating line but I do use a sink tip when the flow is high. You should give the river a try. it`s multi species fishing at it`s finest. |
