Lookin to buy a little bit better bow. I just got a new bow last year but i wanna shoot a little bit faster. I IBO at 320 right now. Lookin to have some more speed so i can get a 55 yard pin and not worry about deer jumpin string. Right now i have a 2010 or 2011 Martin Cheetah with QAD Pro Hunter Drop Awat arrow rest. and a cheap Apex bow sight. But need a bow shoots more than 320 also needs to be a 28 inch draw. 70# or heavier draw weight. Right now im shootin the Martin at 27 inch draw and 70#. Not lookin to sale this bow till i find a bow that i want. Will trade if someone wants to trade. But just depends on what it is.

What kind of bows do they have? I have been talking to a man that shoots tourneys with Mathews about getting one and talkin to his son that shoots for PSE about one.

I have killed deer at 65 yards and not have a problem with the deer jumping the string , I had more deer jump the string at 20 yards than at 50 yards or more and my bow was only shooting 305 fps . there are no bows out there that can shoot faster than the speed of sound, so maybe you should think about getting a quieter bow the speed of sound is a over 1000 feet per second

i have a mathews z7 im shooting 312 with it and it ibos at i think 330 ......just because it says it ibos at 330 dont mean it will shoot it that is with nothing on the strings with a 29 inch draw no peep silencers and i think a 350 grain arrow a lot of people mistake ibo thinking it will shoot that fast for hunting .....dont worry about speed if your shooting over 300 it will get there but u need to practice at that distance cause there is more room for arrow movement if somthing aint right with how u release your arrow........just a little info ....i would go with the mathews

I have shot mathews alot and i have shot bowteck diomands pse hoyts martins high countrys bears and brownings. I like a mathews. But i was actually thinkin about just puttin me a new bow sight on it and a string stop and limbsaver kit(the new s coil stabilizer new string leeches and also limb savers) to just make it a little bit more quiet. And im shootin 50 yards most the time. I have the 2 pins and one is 45-50 and the other is dead center at 15-25. I stand on a little paver stepping stone and i have 2 targets. I think ill just drop another 250 bucks in it and help silent it and also put a 4 pin sight and a new quiver and so forth. Im shooting the quiver that come on it and i dont like how it is cause when i shot my arrows slide out. So im thinking about putting a cheap quickee quiver on its since i like how they work. Also i only have 2 arrows so im gettin some new arrows. So i think that is going to be my best bet. Cause i like the bow how its short axel to axel and its good to carry in the woods and also i can move it around in a tree top alot better. But if im shootin a bow that IBO's at 320 and i got string leaches and a small GF Mega peep on it and im using a 300 grain Gold Tip w/2 inch blazers and also using a 100 grain RAGE 2 blade with a drop away rest about how fast am i really shooting? I have not took it and chrono tested it. Also im shootin it at the max 70 pounds(well 69.8) with a 28"draw?

I have owned several bows over many years of hunting and it's tough to beat a Matthews for over all performance. Bow's have come a long way in the past few years and several manufacturers have stepped up there game and spent tons of time and money on R&D. If I was going to buy another bow and it wasn't a Matthews then it would be a BowTech.

For what it's worth...speed doesn't kill deer. Impact, penetration, and proper shot placement will. I've got a PSE Fireflight express that I'll guarantee you I've put more deer down with that bow, shooting Easton aluminum 2314's and Muzzy 125 grain broadheads than I have any other bow I have owned. It will barely shoot 250 FPS in a chronograph but it will blow a hole through an animal the size of a half a dollar. I have never had to trail a deer more than 50 yards with this setup and have watched most, if not all of them, hit the ground from my tree. The more poundage you shoot and the lighter the arrows and broadheads you use, the more stress you are putting on the bow and they will NEVER stay properly tuned.

Shoot a heavier arrow and a really good broadhead and you'll be amazed at how much better your bow, whichever one you decide to purchase, will perform.

I've exclusively hunted deer with a bow since 98' and I think you've already gotten some good advise on what would be a better option, a quieter smooth shooting bow. I still shoot my Matthews Switchback XT mainly because I haven't needed anything "better". The next bow I buy I will make one change and that's to go down in draw weight to a 60lb bow. I've launched a lot of arrows @ deer and I've only ever shot one over 40 yards and it was just 42 yards. I practice up to 50 a lot and can make the shot pretty easily however I doubt I'll ever take that shot in TN woods.

Work a little harder on stand placement and patience. I think your in for a lot of disappointing hunts if you are already planning on 55 yard shots, they just don't work out that often.
