(98.68.150.136) | Fished Nickajack today and saw something that really irritated me. We were fishing across a spawning flat and my partner got hung up in a gill net. In the small section we could see there were several dead bass stuck in it. Who knows how many more were there that we couldn't see! Does anyone know what the law is for these things? |

(98.68.157.29) | Looked like there were two nets. One was marked, one wasn't. After we moved across the cove another boat ran in and got tangled up. The net owners had shown up by that time. To make it politically correct, they got into a heated argument.
They did not pull out the nets.

Location: Palmer, TN (206.74.219.195) | Bassinal, Was it a white with red Skeeter you saw run into the net? That was Hank and I. He was fishing the Grundy Co. High school tournament and I saw the net just in time to throw it out of gear. Luckily I was able to push it off the prop with the net. The guys with the net were close. Hearing horror stories before about dealing with net fishermen I was worried what would happen when they came up. Fortunately they looked young, in their 20s and they were friendly. They said they had tried to waive us down before we hit. We weren’t wide open so I guess that made the difference.
Both looked like they needed some money. They said they weren’t doing very well and said the most they had was carp. (Where are they going to sell those?) One guy had on an Army t-shirt. I had on my Desert Storm hat. So maybe that’s why there was a little mutual respect. The floats/buoys on the top of the net were faded. Made it lots harder to see. Just glad for all it turned out with no problems.

Location: Jasper, Tennessee (159.245.32.2) | I seen a group of comercial fisherman below nickajack dam this weekend, spreading nets all the way across the main river channel every 200yds or so, they must have put out 8-10 rows of them. I cant stand them and everyone I get into gets diced up like onions. |
