Heres a Curiosity question for ya. I have a 71lb. 24v trolling motor. Operation is fine but i have noticed that the lead battery has been taking longer to charge. What I mean is the batteries are mounted in tandom and all connections are good. Bought the batteries at the same time, but the battery closer to the BUS fuse seems to be draining faster. After a day on the lake I tested both batteries back battery 9.8V front battery (or the one closer to the Bus fuse) 7.2V, plugged in onboard charger both batteries take charge no problem BUT the front battery takes about 1 hour longer to fully charge. Does it make any sense to rotate the batteries, shouldn't they equalize each other out.

The position is not the problem. You have one battery that is losing its life faster than the other - normal for batteries. However, that seems to be a pretty big difference in voltage and charge times and you might be about to lose the battery. Like smalliemouth suggests, check the water first. The batteries in your 24 volt set-up don't "equalize".

Pop the covers after every charge. I'm one of those people that still use distilled water. The boat has been in the driveway for about 13 days now, I tested both batteries front 12.4V back 12.3V, thats after a 4 day old charge so they seem to be holding fine. Just seems a little weird thanks for the help will keep a eye on it.
