Excerpt from an articles in the ABA magazine in October 09; I found this info to be very useful and thought I would share it with everyone.
It was in ABA( American Bass Anglers) mag Sept/Oct 09' issue.

" There are approximately five manufacturers of PVDF(resins) worldwide. Kureha(japan) , Daikin ( japan) , Atonfina ( france) , Solvay ( Belgium), and 3M corp ( USA).

Approximately 10 companies are responsible for extruding the world's Flurocarbon into fishign line. Kuraray ( japan) , Kureha ( better known as Seagur - Japan), Duel ( japan) , Unplass (japan) , Sunline (japan) , Unitika ( japan), Toray (japan), Rhombic (japan), Pure Fishing (USA) and Monfile-trechink (Germany).

Interestingly wnough the math doesn't add up. With only 10 extruder, who etrudes the other 29 brands of fluorocarbon?

Well to tell you the truth, many of the so-called brands are getting their line formulas made by one of the five mfg and eventually extruded by one of ten extruders.

Those PVDF MFG aren't going to give away their top recipes to other companies. Therefore it is unlikely an offshoot brand is going to out perform the original MFG."

I have tried several different brands and use flouro on all my rods but a flipping stick and top water. It seemed every brand had positive and negative characteristics; Berkleys was nice and soft but didnt seem as durable as Vicous, which somtimes was unwielding because it spooled and curled so much. This year everything is getting BPS (which i find durable but it seems stiffer) only because its cheaper and i can buy it in larger spools..and after two years of using it, the article is appearing to be true..

I have tried them all. Toray is the best I ever tried but it is so expensive that I stick with Invisx which is good but not as good.

I've tried several brands and honestly had problems breaking off with most of them. BPS is seems OK and doesn't cost as much as some.

Berkley trans optic is good, along with bps floro. Been using seaguar Inviz-X and red label for the past 2 years and love it. Seems to last longer for me.

There's a reason they call it Vanish...that's what happens to your lures and fish upon hookset!

I think vanish is absolutely the worst line. Set the hook and POOF... everything vanishes

Been using Seaguar Red Label for 3 years now. About half the price of other fluorocarbon brands. The best value in fishing line. Never had a problem with it.

Do you all use line spray to keep the line manageable or do you need to?

I like Triplefish and McCoys as well. I think I have used over the years...Vanish, Stren Fluoro, Vicious, BPS, Seaguar, Berkley Fluoro, Spiderwire, Triplefish and McCoys. Of all of these, my greatest problem was with Spiderwire.

"There's a reason they call it Vanish...that's what happens to your lures and fish upon hookset."

Yep, that funny and sadly it's the truth!

Vanish is absolutely the worst line I have ever tried. I also got it FREE from BASS and very glad that I didn't pay for it. I also hate Spiderwire, although I am not a huge fan of braid lines anyway. Only for that cursed "Rig", flipp'in and frogs. I do like Invisx and Trilene 100% fluro. The Red Label is ok but it's much more stiff and holds more memory, unlike me. As Mr. Whiskers said, I have fluro on everything except my topwaters and the afore mentioned lures. I have had several breaks offs on the hook set here lately. I do not place blame this on the line. When your bouncing, dragging the nose of that jig around, especially in gravel, rocks or mussel beds and you don't keep check on the line or knot, it's not the line! I'm supposed to check that and retie. The nose of that jig and knot has no protection. JMO!

Tried them all over the years and still prefer Berkley / Trilene 100%. Although a tad stiff, it is amazingly strong and abrasion resistant.

+1 He has actually towed my boat over to a piece of structure or the bank while trying to simply break off a jig!! When I can find it I like the Red Label as well. I have not tried the Invisx because it costs twice as much.
