Yesterday I was reading the fine print (yes, I was using a magnifying glass) on the bottom of a Lucky Craft lure package and noted the following: "The lure may partially expand and burst in an ambient temperature of 40°C, so please store it in a location of relatively low temperatures." Other Lucky Craft packages had the same warning.
The conversion from 40°C to °F gives us 104°F, which is not all that hot. We easily exceed that temperature in the cab of a vehicle on a sunny day.
I don't have much experience with these lures, but it appears that a person could lose a lot of money if he was not careful. A lure that was running well could become distorted and ruined with exposure to high temperatures if the warning is correct.

I've seen that too but have several of there pointer series and they sit in my boat all summer and never had anything happen to them, now in 104F water it may be a different story.

A friend had this happen to his LC. He keeps his baits in a tackle box on the floor of his boat year round. His jerkbaits expanded and cracked down the middle.

Oh boy! I have just purchased a crap load of lucky craft lures. Seems pretty crappy that an expensive lure like that would fail. Thanks for the post.

Norman lures such as little N's and dd22's are bad about swelling and cracking. Never had anything happen to my Lucky Crafts.

I dont leave any of my baits in the extreme hotness inside a boat locker or in the extreme cold..

Bass fishermen watch Monday Night Football, drink beer, drive pickup trucks and prefer noisy women with big breasts. Trout fishermen watch MacNeil-Lehrer, drink white wine, drive foreign cars with passenger-side air bags and hardly think about women at all.

I wish I could keep mine long enough to worry about that.
