Location: Jasper, TN (152.85.8.33) | I just recently bought a 2006 21' Stratos with a 2006 Yamaha 250 on it. When I bought the boat the original owner told me that he thought the jack plate needed some fluid. I got the boat for a steal and figured it wouldn be too much trouble to add some oil to it. The Jack Plate is a Detwiler and is the all-in-one model where the motor and pump are part of the jack plate itself (not in battery compartment). When I turn the dial to try to raise or lower the motor, I can hear the motor or pump turning, but the outboard motor doesn move. After letting it run for a few seconds it kind of sounds like it might be cavitating or have some air trapped in it. I'm not sure if maybe it needs some fluid, or needs to be bled, or what. If anybody has any ideas or has dealt with similar issue, any advise would be appreciated. I can't visually seem to find where you would even add fluid. |

Then the question arises...If the fluid is low, where did it go??? ----- James Perry

I had a buddy who bought one and it was out of fluid and would not go up he thought the motor was burned up but just needed fluid. ----- 2008 Ranger 519vx Tour Edition W\ Yamaha 200 HPDI |

It will probally be easier to access with the motor trimmed all the way up. It might not be bright yellow due to fading if you have any problems just pm me. ----- 2008 Ranger 519vx Tour Edition W\ Yamaha 200 HPDI |
