This is just my thoughts ,spend your money and time fishing. You can learn as much from this forum as you can from people that bass fish for a money.there`s bunches of good books that have as much or more info on bass fishing than you need .You can`t buy experience. There are a lot of guys around here that could compete with the pros,if they had someone paying all there bills and living expenses, and most of them are more than willing to share.Just my humble opinion.

Believe me when i tell you that I have already spent thousands of dollars on fishing. Bass fishing guys are not as open with info like the crappie and catfish dudes. Knowledge is power ....that's my thoughts. I could be totally wrong though....lol

I went in 2006 and it was fantastic. I'd recommend it to anyone, and it really shortened the learning curve for me on many things. However there are a few anglers who are just sales pitching.

When I went Larry Nixon, David Fritts, Denny Brauer, and Bill Dance were there and they were all fantastic.

I did a couple of these about 10 years ago and if you have never met any of the pros, it's fun and informative. I'd recommend taking a tape recorder with you to get the most out of it. You will miss things if you only take notes.

True story: Went to one in Birmingham in '96 and KVD, Davey Hite and others were there. We broke for lunch on Sunday and I ended up being the last one in the classroom talking spinnerbait fishing with Kevin VanDam. He says "Come on, we can finish this over lunch." So we walked to a local Mickey D's and talked about spinnerbaits over a big mac. We even shared pictures of our kids ! That the truth with my hand up.

Two years ago they Bass U was scheduled here for two programs. One for intermediate anglers and one for advanced. Both were in Ferurary on two seperate weekends at Chatt State. Denny Brauer was going to be a coach in one and Van Dam another, that was enough for me! It was $150 each I think? I signed up for both! They cancelled both for lack of response! Wish they would come back!

The new bass university is actually being run by Iaconelli isn't it? I can tell you this having talked to Ike concerning tactics at the 2006 Classic, he knows his stuff.

I went several years go, and was disappointed (except for getting to meet David Fritts, Woo Daves, and Denny Brauer). If you are very new to bass fishing, and need to learn lures and techniques it would be time and money well spent. But, if you already know the uses and presentations of several different baits/lures, the program may not help you very much. The key to catching fish is FINDING them. Once fish are located many techniques can and will work. Most all of us can catch bass when they are shallow. But what separates the men from the boys, are the guys that can read maps/electronics and catch the deep water and suspending fish. If they offered a class on map reading and electronics, that would be a big plus. However, that is hard to do in a classroom setting. At these seminars, there is some good information on lures and techniques from the pro's, but much of the time is spent listening to a sales presentation (disguised as technique class) on whatever products the pro's are sponsored by. My advice: learn several techniques, master one of them, spend as much time on the water as you can, and every time you go out try at lease 1 place that you have never fished before. There is no substitute for time on the water. Join a bass club, fish some of the CFF tx's from the back of someones boat, both good ways to learn. Remember: 1st bass-luck 2nd bass- a coincidence 3rd bass- a pattern
